New Family Information Day

Check out Summit Homeschool in action!

This informational event is a great opportunity to meet the founders, learn about how our homeschool community operates, and explore the variety of classes offered for students from elementary through high school. Families will hear how Summit connects homeschool students with passionate instructors who offer engaging classes in a Christ-centered learning environment.

During the open house, we will explain how enrollment works, discuss facility and class fees, and answer any questions you may have about participating in the group. You’ll also have the chance to meet other homeschool families and individuals interested in teaching courses.

Whether you are new to homeschooling or simply looking for additional educational opportunities for your student, we would love to meet you and share more about Summit Homeschool Group.

Summit Homeschool Group was founded by Christine and Sarah — Christian women, wives, and mothers who share a heart for faith, family, and quality home education. Both attend Parkway Church on the Mountain, where Christine also serves on staff. Together, we desired to create a space where homeschool families feel supported, heard, and valued in a collaborative group setting.

Summit Homeschool Group is dedicated to providing excellent Christian educational opportunities for homeschooling families in a safe, welcoming, and spiritually encouraging environment. Our goal is to offer classes taught from a Biblical worldview that enhance and support the education parents are already providing at home.

We meet on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the youth room spaces at Parkway Church on the Mountain, serving families throughout the Roanoke Valley area. Our programming emphasizes classes for students in 1st grade through high school, shaped by the interests of both families seeking classes and instructors willing to teach.

At Summit, we believe strong education happens when faith, family, and community come together. Our hope is to create meaningful learning experiences while building lasting relationships rooted in Christ.

Flexible Enrollment

Families enroll only in the classes that best fit their child’s needs and interests. There are no required full-day commitments — you choose what works for your family.

Direct Instructor Payment

Parents pay instructors directly for the courses their students are enrolled in. This keeps communication clear and allows instructors to set fair pricing for their expertise and materials.

No Teaching Requirement for Parents

Unlike many traditional co-ops, parents are not required to teach in order to participate. While we welcome parent involvement, it is not an obligation.

Small Annual Facility Fee

A modest annual facility usage fee per student helps cover the cost of using our meeting space and ensures we can continue providing a safe, welcoming environment.

Christ-Centered Learning Environment

Classes are taught from a Biblical worldview, supporting families who desire faith-integrated education in a community setting.

Wide Range of Class Offerings

We serve students from elementary through high school, offering a variety of enrichment and academic courses based on community interest. Subjects may include:

  • History
  • Art & Children’s Literature-Themed Crafts

  • Theater
  • Elementary Spanish
  • Middle & High School Science

Our class offerings grow and adapt based on the passions of our instructors and the needs of our families.
